Akuma Saningong studied Biotechnology and Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt and at the Technical University of Munich. He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Duisburg-Essen. Currently, he is the Scientific Director of two research & innovation networks: biomastec (New Technologies for the Sustainable Use of Biomass) and Bioeconomy Network (Bio-based Products from the Material Use of Plants, Animals, Microorganisms and Waste Biological Resources).

Moreover, he lectures on the role and impact of bioeconomy on the global economy at universities and international conferences. He held a teaching position until 2013 in Organic & Polymer Chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences, Aalen Germany. As a side remark, he is passionate in bridging science and spirituality. Science is not only compatible with spirituality but a profound source of spirituality.
